Get Prepared, California!

Get Ready to ShakeOut! 10/19 at 10:19 a.m.

Most Californians live within 30 miles of an active fault. It's not a matter of if, but when, the next earthquake will strike. Yet many Californians are not prepared for an earthquake.

Join us in participating in the 2017 ShakeOut drill. Practice how to react during an earthquake. You may only have seconds to protect yourself during an earthquake before strong shaking knocks you down, or debris starts falling. Practicing helps you be ready.

CEA And Red Cross: Joining Forces to Get More Californians Prepared

CEA and the American Red Cross have joined forces to help more people prepare to survive and recover from California's next earthquake.Together we promote the Get Prepared, California! Auction each April, and the Great California ShakeOut each October.

We are working together to deliver important information on earthquake preparedness by combining Red Cross' disaster preparedness expertise with CEA's residential earthquake insurance and seismic retrofitting expertise. When a house has been seismically retrofit, it is more resistant to earthquake damage.
